Building a website when you have not done so in a complete way before is challenging. And the uploading of images really has one reviewing one’s art past and present with a different eye. It is what it is. One thing it is, is unique. But so would yours be. Even if you try to copy an artist you like, (“imitation is the greatest form of flattery”-Oscar Wilde), it will not be the same, you will make different decisions intentionally or unintentionally and the work you do will be unique. It is a wonderful adventure of discovery, that of discovering what you bring to what you do. And it is fun to try your hand at different mediums. Some will want more of you, like mosaic does me. It is currently my main focus though I have devised paper mosaic for my workshops as one can do a beautiful paper mosaic in 2 hours and it is way less messy. I also offer bas relief sculpey workshops. Using a tile as substrate one creates a scene using colored sculpey from either rolled flat and cut out pieces or sculpted ones that give that bas relief effect. Also something that can be done in a 2 hour time slot. The baking part often has to be done at home if there is no oven in a venue for the 15 minutes at 275 degrees available. Painting is portable, can be done outside (plein aire) or inside using a picture. Included in all my workshops is a little discussion about composition, it makes a big difference and really develops the eye for whatever you are putting together: your living room, today’s outfit, or your art work.
